With an NFT (Non Fungible Token), one can uniquely record the ownership of a digital content without another third party. The Ethereum blockchain is used for this purpose. The digital content is minted. This means that the content is permanently linked to the blockchain. After this process, a new NFT is created.
NFTs can be pieces of music, images, videos but also domain names, video game content and digital trading cards. An NFT can be offered for sale on a portal such as Opensea.io. The main currency used here is the cryptocurrency Ether, which is the second most important cryptocurrency after Bitcoin.
